Die Rollende Landstraße ist für die meisten 12V Gleichstrom-Elektrolokmodelle geeignet. Sie verwendet eine standardmäßige Hornby 12-V-Gleichstrom-Stromversorgung, ist aber auch mit der Hornby 17-V-Gleichstrom-Stromversorgung kompatibel.
Die Rollende Landstraße ist 348 mm lang und wird mit drei einstellbaren Rollenpaaren und einem Drehgestellblock geliefert, der sich in einem Bereich von 85 mm verstellen lässt. Weitere verstellbare Rollenpaare (R8212) können für acht oder zehn gekuppelte Lokomotivmodelle erworben werden. Nicht geeignet für Modelle mit Antrieb auf beide Drehgestelle, wenn der Radstand 157 mm überschreitet.
